How to calculate tile square footages?

How to Calculate Tile Square Footages:

  1. Start on one wall and use a measuring tape to measure in inches the length and the width of the wall needing tile
  2. Multiply the length and width together and divide by 144 to determine the square footage of that wall or floor.
  3. Repeat for all other walls in the shower area.
  4. If you have a wall or floor that is not square, separate into area 1 and area 2. Add the areas together and repeat the process above.

Example:

 96” H x 36” W = 3,456/144 = 24 sq ft. *10%(2.4) = Grand total 26.4 sq. ft.

It is recommended that you order additional materials to account for any cuts, corners, or wastage during installation. For vinyl, we recommend an additional 5% of your total square footage and an additional 10% for all other flooring materials.
